This is representative of a good polished paint job. The underlying panel has 94GU as of today. Points can be negative or positive depending on loss or gain in gloss. For each change in GU points rounded to 1/10th are awarded. After curing the delta in gloss is measured. This panel is then treated with a wax and cured for 24 hours. I use a glass panel with a known gloss rating as measured by my gloss unit (GU) testing appliance. You can find out more in this video: UVA Testing Theoretically 9 to 100 points could be gained, so far no product has received any points. Points are awarded for any UV protection over 9% (a blank slide is 8.4% on average) and one point per percent will be assigned. In my testing I use a UV Photometer / Transmission Meter to determine if a wax, coating or sealant is increasing the UVA protection of a microscopy slide. You can find out more in this video: Slickness Testing I award 0.3 points for every 100th of a μ s below 0.38. Waxed surfaces should yield less force requirement and a lower μ s. When polished the hood without a wax takes 400g of force on average to get the block moving, for a μ s of 0.38. We measure gram-force required to move a stationary 1,040g rigid test block across the waxed hood. This test is based on the measured static coefficient of friction (μ s). The rating is subjective as it's my opinion based on how the product looks compared to a control section of the test panel.

A -10 would be a product that makes the test panel look very poor while a +10 would be the best my panel could look. This is a pass/fail rating to determine if the product looks good once applied, and it's worth from -10 to +10 points. A zero would be a product that is kind of annoying but not hard to use. A product that is very hard to use would score a -10 while a product that is as easy to use as a product in its category could be would get a +10. I will also make an annual video in late spring/early summer to recommend top products. Overall the goal is to get relative point scoring between these products to understand how they compare. New results come in as I perform added testing. The table below is a quick way to review all the present day test results.
